His Majesty the Emperor's Birthday Reception 2025

 On the 7th of February, Ambassador and Madame Suzuki hosted a reception on the occasion of His Majesty the Emperor's Birthday in Valletta, having the President of Malta, H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, as the guest of honour.

 In the ceremony, speeches by Ambassador Suzuki and H.E. President Myriam Spiteri Debono and the national anthems of Japan and Malta took place, in the presence of guests such as Honourable Minister for Lands and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, officials from the Government of Malta, Members of Parliament, representatives of diplomatic missions and local business representatives.
 After the ceremony, the venue was enriched by a spectacular ‘kata’ demonstration, performed by the local Seisuikan Kendo Club Malta and Birkirkara Karate Club. The reception also included introduction booths to taste Japanese sake and Japanese wine, a screening of videos introducing Japan’s tourist attractions, and promotion of the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan and others.

 In his speech, Ambassador Suzuki expressed his congratulations to His Majesty the Emperor’s 65th birthday and in addition stated that this year is a memorable one marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Malta and having the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. Ambassador expressed his pleasure for hosting the first His Majesty the Emperor’s birthday reception in Malta.
 Ambassador also stated that Japan and Malta reaffirmed that they are important partners who share values and principles through high-level exchanges last year, which began with the visit to Malta by then Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs FUKAZAWA in February and ended with the visit by State Minister for Foreign Affairs FUJII in December, and mentioned the two countries’ cooperation as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council.
 Furthermore, Ambassador introduced Malta as a popular destination to study English for Japanese as well as the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between Kobe International University and the Institute of Tourism Studies of Malta last year. Ambassador Suzuki expressed his hope for further development of people-to-people exchanges in the field of education.
