On 22 September, Mr. Ryuichiro Kobayashi, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Olaf McKay, the Mayor of Valletta, at the Valletta Local Council. They exchanged views on a wide range of topics, including the organisation of cultural events and the promotion of tourism.
Valletta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the capital of the Republic of Malta, is truly a jewel of the Mediterranean. Despite its small size, the city embodies Malta’s thousands of years of history and has played an important role in Mediterranean and European history on numerous occasions, right up to modern times. A golden city rising above the sparkling blue Mediterranean, Valletta preserves Malta’s rich history and culture in its beautiful streets and buildings.
Every time we walk through the streets of Valletta, we are captivated by its beauty. Looking at its magnificent architecture and historic streets, we cannot help but feel how deeply this place has touched the hearts of so many people throughout history. We believe that behind this beauty lie the pride and courage of the Maltese people, nurtured over centuries, and the strength that comes from their spirit.
We sincerely hope that as many Japanese people as possible will have the opportunity to walk through the streets of Valletta and experience the unique and incomparable charm of this wonderful city.
