Meeting between Mr. KOBAYASHI Ryuichiro, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., and Prof Charlene Vella (University Professor for Art History) (4 Aug)
On 4th August, Mr. KOBAYASHI Ryuichiro, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., met with Professor Charlene Vella from the University of Malta to discuss ways to further promote academic exchanges between Japan and Malta.
They discussed opportunities to strengthen people-to-people ties through exchanges of students and professors between the University of Malta and Japanese universities. They also discussed the possibility of introducing Japanese art history into the University of Malta's curriculum, with a view to establishing a broader presence for Asian art history in the programme.
Professor Charlene Vella is a Maltese art historian specializing in Late Medieval and Renaissance art, with a Ph.D. from the University of Warwick. She is the author of several books on Mediterranean art history and has a strong interest in exploring and fostering engagement with Japanese art studies.
