Visit to the Japan Art Festival 2026 in Malta by Mr. KOBAYASHI Ryuichiro, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. (3 July)

On the 3rd of July, Mr. KOBAYASHI Ryuichiro, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., attended the opening ceremony of The Japan Art Festival 2026 in Malta, organized by the Japan-Europe Palace Art Association and supported by the Embassy of Japan, where he delivered opening remarks. This marks the third time that the exhibition has been held in Malta, following previous editions in 2020 and 2023.
In his remarks, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. expressed his profound gratitude to the artists from Japan and Malta, as well as to everyone involved in the event. He also introduced the Japanese phrase Ichigu wo Terasu ("to illuminate one corner"), emphasizing that the sincere efforts of each individual can become a light that strengthens the friendship between Japan and Malta through cultural exchange. He also expressed his hope that the festival would further deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two countries.
The exhibition features works by approximately 245 Japanese artists alongside works by Maltese artists, and is expected to further promote artistic and cultural exchange between Japan and Malta. In addition, works by the participating Maltese artists are scheduled to be exhibited this November at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.
