Malta-based Japanese artist, Ms. SUGIHARA Miyuki’s visit to the Embassy (8 May)

On 8th May, Ms. SUGIHARA Miyuki, an artist based in Malta, visited the Embassy of Japan.
Ms. Sugihara creates her works using coloured pencils and water brushes. Her artistic style is light and delicate, yet filled with a natural sense of human warmth, making her works truly captivating.
With her own distinctive sensitivity, Ms. Sugihara has captured the beautiful landscapes of Malta, as well as the subtle everyday scenes of Maltese life, and brought their charm together in a single book. The book is entitled Malta Island: Watercolour Pencil Lessons from the Mediterranean, the fifth volume in the Hajimete-san series.
The book warmly and carefully introduces both the techniques and the joy of preserving one’s impressions of Malta through art, and of creating one’s own inner landscapes.
