2026/1/30
On January 27 and 28, the Embassy of Japan in Malta welcomed Mr. INUBOSHI Kensuke, a sake master based in Milan holding multiple sake qualifications (WSET Level 3 Award in Sake, SAKE DIPLOMA, SAKE DIPLOMA International, JSA SAKE EXPERT), to lead a special sake lecture event titled “Exploring Japanese Sake: Special Lecture & Tasting” at the Valletta Design Cluster. The event was open to the public in Malta.
The event began with Mr. Inuboshi providing an accessible introduction to sake, covering its recognition as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, the various types of sake, how sake differs from wine, and the brewing process.
The lecture was followed by a sake and umeshu (Japanese plum wine) pairing session, featuring ingredients readily available at Maltese supermarkets. Mr. Inuboshi offered insights into the unique characteristics of each sake brand, background information about the breweries, and key points for successful pairing.
Participants had the opportunity to explore the rich and complex world of Japanese sake firsthand. The session fostered lively interaction, with numerous questions from attendees and active exchanges sparked by their shared enthusiasm for sake.
